… für das Festival international de Jardins in Métis, Kanada
48 white doors are arranged in a grid going haywire towards the edges. Their color symbolizes the purity of a dreamed-up place that can never exist: Arcadia.
The idea is of the garden as a place of perfect bliss that never was and never will be. The central element is the door as entrance and boundary — where does the garden begin? A garden is a room outside. To enter, one needs to pass through a doorway. What if one never reaches the room, only another door without any destination? We never arrive. Playing with expectations: one passes through a doorway and reaches a destination, but here, the situation remains the same.
